The Zargaron Mosque (from the Persian word zargaron, meaning “jewelers” or “goldsmiths”) is a sixteenth-century architectural monument in Bukhara. During the Middle Ages, Bukhara was one of the major trade centers of the region. Merchants from Central Asia, Iran, India, China, and Russia gathered in the city. This mosque served as a place of worship for Muslim travelers and immigrants arriving from foreign lands.
