The Khorezm Regional Musical Drama Theater was founded on April 22, 1922, in the city of Khiva, Khorezm. In 1933, the theater was moved to the new capital of Khorezm, Urgench. Over the years since the theater's founding, Uzbek national classics, masterpieces of fraternal peoples and world literature, as well as numerous musical dramas and comedies, have been staged on the theater stage.

Xorazm viloyati musiqali drama teatri 1922 yilning 22 aprel kuni Xorazmning Xiva shahrida tashkil etilgan. Teatr 1933 yilda Xorazmning yangi poytaxti Urganchga koʼchirildi. Teatr tashkil topganidan keyingi oʼtgan salmoqli yillar davomida teatr sahnasida oʼzbek milliy klassik asarlar, qardosh xalqlar hamda jahon adabiyotining durdona asarlari va koʼplab musiqali drama va komediyalar sahnalashtirildi.
