The Turkmen (Rahmonqula Karaulbegi) Madrasah is an architectural monument, a madrasah building in the historical center of Bukhara (Uzbekistan), built in 1905 by the Uzbek ruler Abdulahad Khan. - The two-story madrasah is a cultural heritage site of Uzbekistan and a tourist service facility.

The Turkman Madrasa, also known as the Rahmatulla Toqsabo Madrasa, is a historic educational monument located in the old city of Bukhara. It was built between 1905 and 1910 during the reign of Emir Abdulahad Khan and financed by Rahmatullaboy Qorovulbegi, a wealthy Turkmen merchant known for his karakul fur trade.

The madrasa originally contained 34 student cells (hujras) and served as an important center of religious education. After the establishment of Soviet rule, educational activities ceased. Although funds were allocated for restoration under the state preservation program, the building remained in poor condition for many years.

Today, the madrasa is included in the National Register of Uzbekistan’s Cultural Heritage Sites. Plans have been proposed to restore the monument and adapt it for tourism and cultural activities.

Architecture

The madrasa is a two-story structure built of baked brick and contains 34 hujras. Its entrance portal is decorated with glazed tilework. Above the main doorway is a marble inscription mentioning that the madrasa was commissioned by Rahmatullaboy Qorovulbegi during the reign of Emir Abdulahad Khan. The inscription also records the year 1329 AH (1910 CE) and confirms the founder’s origin from Chardzhou (modern Turkmenabat).
