The "Karaulbazar Sardoba," located in the Karaulbazar district, was built in the 10th century and is one of the important medieval structures that developed together with the caravanserai here, and has survived to the present day through some restoration work in later periods.

The Karavulbazar Sardoba is an ancient water reservoir located in Karavulbazar District, Bukhara Region. Built in the 16th century, it served as a hydraulic structure designed to collect, store, and supply fresh drinking water. It is recognized as an important monument of Uzbekistan’s engineering and architectural heritage.

The sardoba was constructed along a major trade route to provide water for travelers, merchants, and animals crossing the desert. It was an important stop on the Great Silk Road, primarily serving trade caravans. A caravanserai once stood next to the reservoir, and for many years the sardoba was the only source of fresh water for the local settlement.

The reservoir has a water basin measuring 15.8 meters in diameter and 8.1 meters in depth, covered by a dome with nine ventilation openings. The dome rises 6.35 meters above the basin, while the walls are up to 1.5 meters thick. Water was supplied to the sardoba from the Kashkadarya River.

The structure was built using baked bricks and gypsum mortar. Its sophisticated construction included layers of saxaul charcoal, felt made from camel wool, and animal hides, which acted as filters and waterproofing materials, helping to preserve water quality and reduce seepage.

The Karavulbazar Sardoba is protected as a cultural heritage site. In 2018–2019, conservation, restoration, and landscaping works were carried out with funding from the state budget.
