Architectural monument in Jondor district (16th-18th centuries). It is located 30 km west of the city of Bukhara.

The Qizbibi Shrine (Og‘oyi Buzruk) is an architectural monument located in Jondor District of Bukhara Region, about 30 kilometers west of Bukhara in the historic area of Varakhsha. The religious and historical complex was built between the 14th and 18th centuries and is included in the National Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage Sites of Uzbekistan.

According to local legend, Bibi Sharifa was unable to have children for many years. Eventually, she gave birth to a daughter named Qizbibi. Her father, an Arab by origin and a descendant of the Sayyids, was known as Og‘oyi Buzruk and served as a local ruler. Qizbibi was also known by the name Bibi Maxsumaipok.

Tradition holds that she never married and devoted her life to piety, growing fruits and vegetables through her own labor. She became known as one of the revered female saints of the region. According to legend, in the 16th century the famous Mir Arab (Sayyid Abdullah) twice sent marriage proposals to Qizbibi, but both were rejected. During the second proposal, she reportedly said, “Return home, for Mir Arab has already left this world.” When the messengers returned, they learned that Mir Arab had indeed passed away.

The Qizbibi complex includes a madrasa, mosque, chillakhona (a retreat for spiritual seclusion), dahma (burial structure), well, and gateway. Many local people visit the shrine to pray for children, perform pilgrimage rituals in the chillakhona, and drink water from the sacred well.

Following Uzbekistan’s independence, restoration and beautification works were carried out at the shrine. Historians believe that a hill associated with Bibi Maxsumaipok still exists in the village of Samonchiq in Jondor District.

The shrine was built in the traditional style of Central Asian architecture using baked brick, wood, stone, and ganch (decorative plaster).
