In the 17th and 19th centuries, it functioned as a Muslim school, where students from various cities came to study.

G‘oziyon Madrasah (meaning “Warriors of the Faith”), also known as G‘oziyon Kalon (“Great G‘oziyon”), is a historical madrasa in Bukhara dating from the 15th–18th centuries. It was an important center of Islamic education, attracting students from various regions.

Located in the ancient G‘oziyon quarter of Bukhara, the madrasa takes its name from Imam G‘ozi, one of the revered martyrs of Bukhara. The area was historically one of the city's educational centers, with several madrasas situated nearby.

The present building was constructed in 1733–1734 by master builder Usta Fathulloh with financial support from Muhammad Sharif. The madrasa is a one-story structure with a monumental façade, designed in the traditional Bukhara architectural style. Its interior dome is decorated with elegant inscriptions and ornamental patterns, including a poetic dedication honoring the patron and builder.

As part of the Historic Centre of Bukhara, the madrasa was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Today, it remains an important architectural and cultural monument of the city.
